The Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes operated from 1895 to 1930. Comprised of the sons and grandsons of American slaves, this league was formed to attract more men to church and strengthen their religious path, hockey entirely. black has also served to dispel myths about black abilities. With their fast paced physical play and goaltending style, the players made a real contribution to hockey.
